March 2023 Human Trafficking Update


A man convicted in a child sex trafficking operation in Scioto County was sentenced to 40 years in prison. 

Several massage parlors in Trumbull and Mahoning County were raided for money laundering and human trafficking. 

The Southeast Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force and local law enforcement agencies arrested a Washington County man for possessing child pornography.

A Morgan County man was sentenced to a minimum of 40 years in prison for trafficking a juvenile. 

A Cincinnati man was arrested and charged federally with sex trafficking and exploiting teenage girls.

A Cleveland man was sentenced to three years in prison for participating in the kidnapping of a human trafficking victim.

National Institute of Justice Research and Evaluation on Trafficking in Persons 
In collaboration with the Office of Victims for Crime, the National Institute of Justice is funding research and evaluation projects to better understand, prevent, and respond to trafficking in persons. 

Updated Toolkit: Building Survivor-Informed Organizations
The National Human Trafficking Training and Technical Assistance Center has produced an updated toolkit includes new chapters with recommendations and resources on human trafficking survivor leadership engagement, diversity, equity and inclusion, and wellness. 

"Take It Down" Tool
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children recently launched a new tool to assist individuals in removing or stopping the online sharing of nude, partially nude, or sexually explicit images or videos taken of them when they were under 18 years old. 

Annual Report on Counter-Human Trafficking Efforts
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security released its annual report highlighting select department accomplishments.
