Information Exchange Package Documentation
As defined through the GJXDM Information Exchange Package Documentation Guidelines published by the GJXDM XML
Structure Task Force, an "Information Exchange Package" represents a set of data that is transmitted for a specific business
purpose. It is the actual XML instance that delivers the payload or information. The Information Exchange Package Documentation, or
IEPD, is a collection of artifacts that describe the structure and content of an Information Exchange Package.

IEPDs that can be found on the U.S. Department of Justice – Office of Justice Programs’ Information Technology Initiatives Web page.
Information Exchange Package Documentation Project in Ohio
The Ohio Department of Public Safety’s Office of Criminal Justice Services (OCJS) CJIS Section has created an IEPD
for the transmission of citation information through law enforcement records management systems (RMS) into court case management systems
(CMS). OCJS is working on a project with the Circleville Police Department and Circleville Municipal Court on this type of transfer of
information. Citation information from the LEOT’s Citation Module will be able to be electronically transferred from Circleville PD’s
LEOT database to the Circleville Municipal Court’s CMS database. This will help eliminate duplicate data entry by court staff of each
citation written by Circleville PD.
This model is designed to be used by any law enforcement agency using a citation RMS with their local court’s CMS.
Law enforcement agencies’ RMS vendor and their local courts’ CMS vendor can program their software based on this model to allow for the
transmission of citation information from the RMS to the CMS.

Information Exchange Package.
